In this paper, we propose a method for proactive key delivery to enable fast authentication as wireless LAN nodes move between Access Points within an administrative domain. The method optimises the EAP-TLS phase of the IEEE 802.11i authentication process by creating list of keys at the first authentication with the administrative domain, and proactively delivering those keys to candidate Access Points. This takes advantage of Proactive Context Transfer and Forced Handover. The performance analysis shows that the proposal can reduce significantly authentication delay and bandwidth consumption; hence improve overall handover performance.
